MP3: C/ Halo 4 Cross over - P.E.D. Suit by Dutch02 MP3: C/ Halo 4 Cross over - P.E.D. Suit by Dutch02
2nd installment in my Metroid Prime armor line. This was actually a bit more easy since the PED suit has much more angles and over all just looks like it would be a beast. I did this in a couple days as well, way more of a low profile and way less upper torso bulk than the Varia Suit.

Look for more of these coming from me!

What part of the template do you still have? Do you have everything in the files for PED suit?

Read my previous comment, lol

Its an entire package that includes every piece of armor you see in the renders (excluding the undersuit). It is being sold as a template package.  Why does it cost money might you ask? Well, its because its original. I havent seen anything else on the internet that even closely resembles this armor. Not to mention having to change Samus' female variant of the PED suit to a male variant that is suitibly functional and doesnt have any weird pinch points.

For the full set of templates its $220. Its good that you enjoy what you do with your cosplays. Yea, it seems like everybody has a tight budget these days, especially with how the job market is. I do understand you, but I really cant do a significant price drop on the templates. Selling templates has been my main stay business for a little over a year now since I myself havent been able to land a job. Hope you enjoyed your weekend, couldnt really enjoy mine due to crazy fall weather hah.

Any chance of seeing a rendered version with two regular forearms and hands instead of the arm cannon?

Would be awesome if this could work with pepakura.

No, not free. Selling these templates is currently my only form of income right now and I'm also using these designs for a professional portfolio that I'm making.

i really like this! i think you have a really good eye for creating strong proportions and form. even though it's an adaptation of an existing design, you've carried everything over really well. from looking at your other models, it seems like you haven't done too much texture painting or hi-res modelling? what software are you using to make these models? good stuff, though. keep it up!

Thank you very much Stunna :)

Yea, I havent really dabbled in texture painting/ uv wraps or stuff along those lines. Mainly because my computer simply cant handle crunching all of the seams and such and the 'baking' of the textures onto a mesh. Makes my computer straight up crash. I've done some hi-res modeling but (most recent submission). My mainstay program for model is Google Sketchup8, if there are any mesh issues I export it into 3D-Coat so I can retopo/ optimize the mesh if its horribly high poly or just has a disgusting topography. Then after the mesh is all good, I pull it into Keyshot 4.0 and render it.

gotcha. having capable and up to date hardware can be a pain.
if and when you do upgrade a bit though, i think you'd really benefit from adding programs like zbrush, maya, or 3ds max to your pipeline.
from what i can see, it doesn't seem like you've made any models for subdividing (i can still see facets of surfaces that are supposed to be contoured or smooth) so, imo these aren't high res meshes. modeling for subdivisions is a bit daunting at first to learn, but you'll probably get the hang of it quickly - you're already pretty talented at getting good results out of sketchup. knowing how to model for smooth will really increase your ability to describe different kinds of materials and surface qualities through just your modeling alone (without the addition of any textures or shaders). further, once you have hi res meshes, you can take them into zbrush and add even more detail into the model itself by sculpting things like worn edges, chipped paint, or bullet holes. it's awesome. in any case, i think you have something pretty good going for you. keep up the good work and don't be afraid to try new things :)

I've tinkered around with zbrush a bit, absolutely love the program. I do use 3DS Max every now and again but I dont like to use it for modeling since there are a lot of unnecisary steps that you need to take to make a recessed hole on a curved mesh. I just work way faster in sketchup, haha.
Ah okay. Making a subdivided mesh is pretty damn easy in sketchup as well, just have to install a plugin to make it work. Sadly though, if I try to work with a subdivided mesh it lags out my computer horribly. So once again it stems back to crappy hardware. Thats very true as well, the smoother the mesh is, the better the bump/ normal/ UV maps will lay on it and look less craggy and such around the facets and edges.  I would absolutely love to be able to sculpt in metal detailing as well and then turn it into a texture bake... thats one of my big goals for my Master Chief armor that I just recently finished so I can make it insanely accurate!
Thanks a ton Stunna, its really nice talking with somebody that comprehends and understands this stuff!
